Monday 18th February 2019 - Early start, picking Ann up at 6.30am for the drive up to Congleton to pick up Karen and Chris, then onto Manchester Airport for the flight to Milan. We had a lovely brunch and bottle of Prosecco to start as we meant to go on before our 12.30pm flight. We flew Ryanair, so flew into Bergamo, this mean't we had to catch the Airport shuttle bus into Milan, this was very reasonable at just 5 euros each. From Milan railway station it was a short taxi ride to our apartment, Appartamenti Bruzzanese, Viale Col di Lana 5/a. We arrived around 6pm, the apartment was gorgeous, well appointed and full of antique furniture, very Italian style.

As we arrived early evening we had booked our restaurant for the evening, Osteria Ovino Milano, in the same street as our apartment. Afterwards we headed to a Cuban themed bar for cocktails.

Tuesday 19th February 2019 - Lovely, leisurely breakfast of crusty fresh bread, meats, cheese and tomatoes in the apartment. We had a walk around the Navagli (canal) area, where there is lots of nightlife, bars and restaurants etc. We went back to the apartment for a quick Bailey's coffee and managed to get stuck in the lift. Stairs now on for us, but only 2 flights up, so not so bad. Sat on the balcony in the sun enjoying our coffees. Walked to the centre, to visit the Duomo. But we had to stop off for cocktails on the roof of the Galleria in the Aperol Spritz bar first. We then took in some culture and had a tour of the Duomo, which included the roof. We then headed back to the apartment for a bit of a rest, before heading to Navigli for dinner in a lovely rustic Italian called Luca e Andrea. We rounded off the evening with cocktails in Henry's Bar, an Irish bar on our street.

Wednesday 20th February 2019 - Change of plan this morning as we had decided to visit Turin by train, but as we had forgot the code to the safety deposit box, we had to wait for the apartment owner to come and unlock it for us. We decided instead to visit the Castello Sforzesco and the parkland to the North of the Duomo. We had lunch in Cafe Dante, Alfresco and then visited the amazing Starbucks Roastery in the Old Post Office building. Amazing toilets!!! Back to the Galleria so we could all spin on our heels on the bull's balls for luck! Leisurely walk back stopping for cocktails and prosecco enroute. In the evening we visited one of the famous Navigli happy hour buffets, great value at just 11 euros for all you can eat plus drinks, packed with students as you might imagine, but a great atmosphere and definitely an experience.

Thursday 21st February 2019 - We decided that Bergamo looked more appealing than Turin, so took a train, just 11 euros return. Once in Bergamo, we caught the funicular train up to the old medieval town. It was very picturesque and we had drinks and nibbles in the Piazza Vecchia. Another funicular took us to the very top, where we had more drinks and nibbles, whist enjoying a glorious view over the town. Karen and I walked back down, stopping off for a Gelato on the way. Our last night in Milan so packing, before heading back to Luca e Andrea for dinner in Navigli and final drinks in the Cuban themed bar.

Friday 22nd February 2019 - Early start, 7am taxi to the central station to catch the flight bus at 7.20am. Our flight departed Bergamo at 10.45am and we arrived back home in Nuneaton around 3.30pm, after first dropping Karen and Chris in Congleton. Another great Girls on Tour. Lovely memories and fabulous company. We think Bratislava next year!
